About GearBud

Built by gear people, for gear people.

GearBud is a local marketplace where anyone can rent, buy or sell event gear. After more than 25 years in the audio industry, we know how much great gear sits in cases between gigs, and how hard it can be to find the right piece for one night.

Our story

It started behind the decks.

We got our start playing private events. Working alongside other DJs and event companies, we began helping them find the right gear, and before long the gear became the main event. Over the next two decades we grew into a full audio, DJ and lighting business, working with nearly every major brand along the way.

Through all of it, we kept seeing the same thing. DJs and production companies had speakers, lights and effects sitting unused between gigs. Meanwhile, people planning a wedding or a party needed a pair of speakers or uplights for one night and had nowhere easy to find them.

So we built GearBud: a place where people can sell or rent out their own gear, and where anyone can find what they need from someone nearby.
